Shadow

A shadow is a sticky thing;

Won’t leave my side, considering.

I seek the light, and yet the shadow grows

but without light, I’m swallowed whole

I face the sun and smile bright,

But shadow still holds me tight.

A flicker of a memory, and yet so dark,

it pulls me in with trembling heart.

The light became my daily goal

find love and trust to make me whole

Shadow feeds on fear and doubt

Courage, strength, starve it out

At first I thought Shadow a wicked beast

who scarred my visage, cause to flee

as I grew stronger, shadow shrank

still always near me, it falls in rank

Shadow is a sticky thing;

Won’t leave my side, considering.

I’m not too scared of shadow now.

we sail along. I’m at the bow.
